Uplynulé tři dny (12. až 14. října 2020) byly plné rozmanitých a dynamických diskuzí, které nás přiměly zamyslet se společně nad aktuálními globálními výzvami.     24th Forum 2000 Conference: A New World Emerging? Restoring Responsibility and Solidarity Řečníci třetího konferenčního dne upozornili na význam a důležitost solidarity v dnešním rychle se měnícím světě – ostatně jak naznačuje již samotný název konference. Zároveň je podle nich potřeba klást důraz na univerzální hodnoty, které nás spojují, je čas spolupracovat, projevit empatii a posílit demokracii na lokální úrovni.

    Podívejte se sami na sestřih hlavních myšlenek ze třetího dne, během kterého vystoupili například bývalá ministryně zahraničních věcí Madeleine Albrightová, ekonom Jeffrey Sachs, nositelka Nobelovy ceny míru Shirin Ebadi nebo turecko-německý novinář Can Dündar.

    Day 1

    Tsai Ing-wen, President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), mentioned during the Conference opening that we must resolve how to safeguard our democratic system and way of life amid pandemic. David Harris, CEO of AJC, noted that we are missing strong, bold, courageous and visionary leaders. Those who do not follow, but those who lead. Historian Timothy Garton Ash then referred to the ongoing crisis as dark, difficult, daunting times. Yet, he also pointed out that if we have truth, solidarity, strategy and responsibility, there will be brighter times ahead.

    Day 2

    Belarusian President-elect Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said that Belarusians want new, fair and transparent elections. Garry Kasparov also mentioned it is necessary to get together and start to setting up the tech rules to prevent the authoritarians to shape the norms of the digital era. During the last session on the US elections, Charles Kupchan stated that four more years of Donald Trump would test the patience of the US allies.

    Day 3

    Foreign Minister of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Jaushieh Joseph Wu reminded that this is the time for solidarity. The economist Jeffrey Sachs also stressed that that time has come for Europe as Europe in a unified way to invest very very boldly. Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright pointed out that those countries that are led by women are dealing with the crisis better and sociologist Karlona Wigura added that there is a need for empathy in today’s fast-changing world.
